Jakarta (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — Vice President Ma’ruf Amin emphasizes the significance of Ramadan as a period of self-reflection and spiritual growth for Muslims, with its commencement set for Tuesday, March 12, 2024. In a recent statement, he underscores the importance of both physical and mental readiness for the fasting month, stressing that it serves as an opportunity for Muslims to deepen their connection with the divine and enhance their personal integrity.
“Every Muslim should prepare themselves, both physically and mentally, as they embark on the sacred journey of Ramadan. It is a time to fast and intensify our devotion to Allah,” Amin explains.
During a video address, Amin delineated three key benefits of Ramadan fasting. Firstly, he underscores its spiritual dimension, highlighting how fasting instills patience and self-control, crucial qualities in resisting temptation and nurturing moral strength.
“The fasting experience helps us harness self-discipline and resist worldly desires that may lead us astray,” Amin remarks.
Secondly, Amin emphasizes the societal benefits of Ramadan, noting how the practice promotes social cohesion and equality among Muslims, transcending social boundaries and fostering a sense of unity.
“Ramadan teaches us to treat one another with fairness and dignity, irrespective of our social status,” Amin adds.
Moreover, Amin sheds light on the health advantages associated with Ramadan fasting, pointing out its cleansing effects on the body and referencing Islamic teachings affirming its positive impact on physical well-being.
“Through fasting, we not only cleanse our internal organs but also promote overall health and vitality,” Amin emphasizes.
Addressing recent political events, Amin acknowledges the diversity of opinions that emerge during elections but underscores the importance of preserving unity and fraternity among Indonesians, especially during Ramadan.
“While political differences may arise, it is essential to maintain solidarity and harmony among our fellow Muslims and citizens,” Amin asserts.
He emphasizes Ramadan as an opportune time for strengthening bonds within the Muslim community and fostering goodwill among nations, urging Indonesians to approach the holy month with sincerity and devotion.
“Let us pray for the safety and prosperity of Indonesia as we welcome the blessed month of Ramadan. May this year’s Ramadan bring us closer to the divine and to one another,” Amin concludes, extending his wishes for divine guidance and blessings throughout the fasting period.
