Jakarta (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — In a recent statement, Anna Hasbie, the spokesperson for the Religious Affairs Ministry, reassured the public that the recent circular outlining guidelines on loudspeaker usage would not impede worship activities during Ramadan.
Emphasizing the Ministry’s stance, Hasbie clarified, “This circular does not impose a ban on the use of loudspeakers. We encourage the continuous recitation of the Quran using loudspeakers. However, for the sake of communal harmony, we urge the utilization of internal speakers.”
The Ministry had issued Circular Letter Number: SE. 05 of 2022 on February 18, 2022, delineating guidelines for loudspeaker usage in mosques and prayer rooms, Hasbie highlighted.
The circular’s objective is to foster peace, order, and mutual comfort in religious broadcasts, accommodating individuals from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds.
It sets forth regulations for both indoor and outdoor loudspeakers, including their usage during Ramadan for tarawih prayers, Quranic recitations, and Ramadan lectures, stipulating that loudspeakers should be directed inward within mosques.
Hasbie clarified that the circular isn’t a novel directive, as it traces its origins back to 1978 in the form of Instructions from the Director General of Islamic Community Guidance (Kep/D/101/1978).
“During Ramadan, it mandates the use of internal speakers for Quran recitations both during the day and night,” Hasbie affirmed.
She emphasized that the circular isn’t intended to curtail religious activities during Ramadan. Rather, it aims to cultivate a tranquil atmosphere during the sacred month.
“The regulation of loudspeaker usage aims to prevent disturbances, especially in areas where mosques are in close proximity. This ensures a serene environment, facilitating better comprehension of lectures and studies,” Hasbie elucidated.
The Ministry’s assurance underscores its commitment to facilitating worship activities while promoting harmony and understanding among communities during Ramadan.
