JAKARTA, INDONESIA (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — The Los Angeles 2028 Olympiad added three swimming sports numbers namely 50 meters breaststroke, 50 meters butterfly style, and 50 meters backstroke.
The announcement emerged after approval by the Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
“Thus, the total medal won in the swimming branch to 41 – up from 35 in Paris 2024,” was quoted as saying on the official Olympic page on Saturday.
The news immediately received a positive response from the winner of three times Olympic Champion Adam Peaty, who won a gold medal for 100 meters of breaststroke in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 in 2021.
“This is the best result for our extraordinary exercise, and will allow more people to be part of the sport, and last longer,” the English star wrote on Instagram.
“I have a good feeling about the next three years.”
Aquatic Indonesian also welcomed the announcement. In Instagram uploads on Saturday, the federation stated that “With the addition of these three numbers, the opportunities for swimmers, including Indonesian swimmers to perform and win medals at the Olympics are increasingly open.”
