JAKARTA, INDONESIA (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) said that regulations, standardization, and supervision, for the daycare or child Daycare must be strengthened, following a case of alleged violence against children under five in Daycare In Surabaya, East Java.
“Parents must feel safe when leaving children and children must be guaranteed safety. This case becomes a momentum to strengthen regulations, standardization, and supervision of Daycare So that similar incidents do not happen again, “said Acting Deputy (Acting) Deputy for Child Special Protection of the Ministry of PPPA Ratna Susianawati in Jakarta on Thursday.
Ratna Susianawati assessed that this event was a reminder of the importance of clear standards for every child care service.
These standards include licensing aspects, parenting patterns, completeness of facilities, the application of emergency SOPs during an incident, as well as protection of the rights of children and parents.
The PPPA Ministry has coordinated with the East Java Women’s and Child Protection Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD PPA) to provide comprehensive assistance for victims and their families.
“UPTD PPA East Java Province accompanied the victims’ parents in the police examination, provided online psychological counseling to the victim’s mother who experienced anxiety, and ensured the condition of the victims both mentally and physically,” said Ratna Susianawati.
In addition, the PPPA Ministry also fully supports the police to carry out the legal process of this case.
Previously, a toddler with the initials EJ (1) suffered many wounds on her body after being deposited in a daycare in Surabaya on June 4, 2025.
The victim is suspected of violence by other toddlers in that place. The next day the victim’s parents reported the owner Daycare to the East Java Regional Police. Until now the East Java Regional Police are still investigating.
