JAKARTA, INDONESIA (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — A chilling incident shook the residents of Kalideres, West Jakarta, on Thursday night (May 8), when a man was found dead with a stab wound in Gang Barokah, RT 001/RW 012, Kalideres Village, Kalideres District. The discovery was made at approximately 23:00 local time and has since raised suspicions of a possible murder.
According to an eyewitness, Budi, who runs a small food stall near the location, the victim had just eaten at his place shortly before the tragedy occurred. “Yes, he ate here, maybe for an hour or less,” Budi told reporters in Jakarta on Friday. “After finishing his meal, he came back around 22:20 to buy cigarettes. Once I gave him the cigarettes, I closed my stall and went home.”
However, things took a dark turn moments later. “Just as I was walking to the front of my house, I heard a loud scream — someone shouting ‘Pak! Pak!’ like something terrible had happened,” Budi recalled.
Startled by the cries, Budi rushed toward the source of the commotion, only to find the man lying motionless at the entrance of the alley. “I saw someone lying there, but I didn’t dare approach alone. I called out to the neighbors, and several of us came together. That’s when I realized it was the same man who had just bought food and cigarettes from me,” he explained.
The man was found with a visible stab wound on the left side of his abdomen. “There was a stab mark in his lower left stomach. That’s what we saw,” Budi said, adding that there was no one else around when they discovered the body. “There was no one else in sight, only the victim lying there.”
What adds to the mystery is that none of the residents, including Budi, recognized the man. “He’s not from around here. I’ve never seen him before. He only came to shop once,” Budi said.
The scene drew significant attention from residents, but despite the crowd, there were no immediate signs of the perpetrator or any witnesses who saw the stabbing take place. “We don’t know who did it. When I arrived, it was just the man lying there, already wounded. There was no one running, no one else in the area,” Budi added.
As of the time this report was published, local police had not yet released an official statement or identified any suspects. The body was taken by authorities for further investigation, and the case is now under the jurisdiction of the West Jakarta Police Department.
The incident has left residents shaken and worried about safety in their neighborhood. “It’s scary. We’re not used to things like this happening around here,” said another resident who declined to be named.
