Bekasi, West Java (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — In a distressing incident at the level crossing of Bulak Kapal, East Bekasi District, Bekasi City, West Java, two cars were severely damaged after colliding with the Airlangga train on Saturday afternoon (March 23, 2024).
According to Iptu Suwandi, the Traffic Accident Unit Chief of Bekasi City Metropolitan Police, the accident occurred around 12:00 PM local time.
“The traffic accident happened at 12:00 PM, as the train was traveling from the west (Jakarta) towards the east (Central Java),” he stated in Bekasi on Saturday (March 23, 2024).
The sequence of events began when a Nissan Teana car with license plate number B 1578 KBN, driven by a woman identified as CBF (58), was heading from Bulak Kapal (south) towards Perumnas 3 (north).
Simultaneously, from the opposite direction, a Toyota Calya car with license plate number B 2833 FFD, driven by a man identified as S (43), also attempted to cross the railway tracks.
“At that moment, a collision occurred (with the train hitting two cars),” he explained.
Suwandi further mentioned that the impact of the collision caused the two cars involved to hit two bicycles positioned beside them and one parked motorcycle not far from the scene.
“As a result of the incident, the vehicles involved sustained significant damage. The Airlangga train continued its journey,” he added.
Due to the accident, two minibus drivers and one passenger of the Toyota Calya sustained injuries and have been receiving treatment at the hospital.
“The drivers and the passenger who sustained injuries have been taken to the hospital. We have also conducted the evacuation of all vehicles involved in the accident,” he confirmed.
