Leverkusen, German (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — Legendary Bayern Muenchen figure Philipp Lahm has weighed in on Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso, tipping him for a bright future in coaching.
“Xabi Alonso has always been a coach with numerous strategies. We can all predict that he will become a great coach,” Lahm stated, as quoted from AFP on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Lahm and Xabi Alonso were former teammates donning the Bayern Muenchen jersey for three seasons before both retired in 2017.
Currently with Bayer Leverkusen, Alonso stands as a prime candidate for clinching the German League title, boasting a ten-point lead over second-placed Bayern Muenchen.
With eight games remaining, Florian Wirtz and his teammates maintain an unbeaten record, tallying 22 wins and four draws out of 26 matches.
Rumors swirl around Alonso’s departure from the Leverkusen headquarters, the Bay Arena, by the end of this season. However, according to Lahm, the Spanish coach won’t rush to determine his future due to Alonso’s meticulous nature.
“Xabi is an intelligent player, but also an intelligent person, and that’s why I think he carefully considers what his next steps will be. Is now the right time (to move from Leverkusen) or later?” stated the former German national team captain.
“I’m excited to see where he goes. I’m sure he’ll coach a club bigger than Leverkusen in his coaching career. But I’m also curious about what he’ll do,” added Lahm.
Alonso will lead Leverkusen in their pursuit of the German League title as Leverkusen is scheduled to face Hoffenheim at the Bay Arena, Leverkusen, on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
