Jakarta (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Komjen Pol. Mohammed Rycko Amelza Dahniel reminded the public that the terror attack in Moscow, Russia, on Friday (03/22/2024), was a tragedy.
“I want to convey to the entire Indonesian society, my fellow countrymen, what happened in Russia is a criminal attack, a humanitarian tragedy,” Rycko said at the Ministry of Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs building in Jakarta on Monday (03/25/2024).
Rycko made the statement after his agency found narratives on social media that actually supported the perpetrators of the terror act.
“We still find on social media, on various media platforms, whether open, closed, hidden, personal, or group platforms, narratives that support such actions. We still find narratives that spread, share, propagate,” he said.
He emphasized that the tragedy in Moscow, Russia, was an inhumane event that could potentially destroy human civilization.
“Therefore, for my fellow countrymen who may not have enough information, these are humanitarian events, acts of brutality, atrocity,” he said.
As a result, he urged the public not to support such acts of terror.
“Let’s reject violence. Let’s preserve our diversity. Let’s maintain a sense of compassion among us all. Let’s distance ourselves from such violent actions,” he urged.
