“This is extraordinary. Halal certification will drive the economy. We hope even small eateries, like instant noodle stalls and street vendors, can obtain halal labels”
JAKARTA, INDONESIA (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has partnered with the Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency (BP Taskin) to support small businesses and low-income communities. The collaboration focuses on providing halal certification for ultra micro, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) recommended by BP Taskin, with the aim of boosting local economies and increasing household income.
The partnership was announced during a meeting between BP Taskin Deputy Head Nanik S. Deyang and BPJPH Head Haikal Hassan in Jakarta on Tuesday (Sept 9, 2025).
Halal Certification to Boost Local Economy
Nanik expressed optimism that halal certification would empower small businesses and attract more customers.
“This is extraordinary. Halal certification will drive the economy. We hope even small eateries, like instant noodle stalls and street vendors, can obtain halal labels,” she said.
Haikal echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that halal logos significantly increase consumer trust and sales.
“Every time a product carries the halal logo, revenue grows because consumer confidence rises,” he explained.

Mosques to Support UM – MSMEs
BP Taskin also plans to involve mosques in the program.
“Mosques will provide space for ulta micro and MSMEs, and these businesses will then be certified halal,” Nanik explained.
She added that halal certification would encourage better hygiene standards, making small food stalls more attractive to a wider customer base.
“With halal certification, small eateries will maintain cleanliness. Even middle-class consumers who usually shop in supermarkets will be drawn to buy from these stalls,” she noted.

Success Stories and Fast-Track Program
Haikal shared a success story of a snack entrepreneur whose products were once rejected by supermarkets.
“After obtaining halal certification, the business now ships two containers of products to Europe regularly,” he said.
To ensure long-term impact, BPJPH has asked BP Taskin to record all participating MSMEs and monitor their growth. Haikal also promised a faster process through the “halal on-site” program, allowing inspections to be conducted directly at business locations.
