Jakarta, (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE)- The Waste Management Unit of the Water Body Agency (UPS BA) of the Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) has officially formed a Special Task Force (Satgas) to address waste issues in the Ciliwung River. This step is taken to tackle the waste challenge, not only during the rainy season when the potential for floods increases but also throughout the year.
Asep Kuswanto, Head of the Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH), stated that the formation of this Task Force would strengthen the efforts of the Jakarta DLH in handling waste accumulation in the Ciliwung River. “With the combination of the Ciliwung Task Force and the TB. Simatupang Waste Filter, we are confident that we can control the waste accumulation in the Ciliwung River and minimize the potential for floods due to waste,” said Asep.
The Ciliwung Task Force will regularly monitor and clean up waste along the Ciliwung River. This step is expected to help reduce the amount of waste carried by the river currents and reduce the risk of floods.
Asep also invites all parties, including the public, to jointly care for the Ciliwung River. “We hope that with the synergy of all parties, including the public, the Ciliwung River can become a clean river free from waste, and the risk of floods can be minimized,” added Asep.
The Ciliwung Task Force, consisting of 140 members from various Waste Management Units (Satlak) of UPS BA Districts traversed by the Ciliwung River, was inaugurated by the Head of UPS BA DLH Jakarta, Dadang Cahya Rusdiana. They will be tasked with continuously monitoring and cleaning up waste along the river.
“In this effort, the Ciliwung Task Force is divided into 5 segments covering the entire course of the Ciliwung River, from the source to the estuary,” explained Dadang.
Dadang added that the Ciliwung Task Force would be equipped with adequate equipment, including rubber boats, trash nets, trash transportation equipment, and security equipment for the officers.
“The initiative to form the Ciliwung Task Force reflects the commitment of the Water Body Agency in making the Ciliwung River free from waste,” emphasized Dadang.
