Jakarta (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — Otto Hasibuan, the Deputy Chairman of the Defense Team for Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, stated that the 2024 General Election is the most peaceful and successful election, not the worst as alleged by Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md.
“In this election, we have witnessed a remarkable level of peace and efficiency, contrary to the claims made by the petitioners,” said Otto during the preamble of the ongoing hearing on the Dispute of the Presidential Election Results (PHPU) for the 2024 Presidential Election at the Constitutional Court building in Jakarta on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
Otto described the arguments presented by Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud as narratives filled with assumptions, seemingly aiming to manipulate public opinion by suggesting that their defeat was due to electoral fraud.
“The narratives developed and constructed seem to suggest that the people voted for Prabowo-Gibran due to fraud and the distribution of social assistance (bansos),” he remarked.
According to Otto, such claims undermine the majority of Indonesian people’s right to freely determine their choice. He asserted that the Indonesian people chose Prabowo-Gibran because they genuinely wanted this presidential and vice-presidential pair to lead Indonesia forward.
“Their choice was made based on their conscience. So, to accuse them and the people of choosing due to the distribution of social assistance or electoral fraud hurts the majority of Indonesians who elected Prabowo-Gibran as the president and vice president they love,” he added.
The Prabowo-Gibran camp stated that they will not be swayed by allegations of fraud. They affirmed their commitment to honesty and professionalism.
“We will provide a juridical analysis to refute the petitioners’ arguments. We will counter these arguments not with assumptive narratives but with clear legal arguments supported by evidence,” said Otto.
In this case, Anies-Muhaimin essentially requested the Constitutional Court to annul Decision No. 360 of 2024 by the General Election Commission (KPU) regarding the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Election Results.
Anies-Muhaimin also urged the court to disqualify the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair number two, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, from participating in the 2024 Presidential Election.
They also asked the court to instruct the KPU to conduct a re-vote for the 2024 Presidential Election without including Prabowo-Gibran.
Meanwhile, Ganjar-Mahfud petitioned the court to annul Decision No. 360 of 2024 by the KPU regarding the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Election Results.
They also requested the court to disqualify Prabowo-Subianto as a presidential candidate for the 2024 Presidential Election. Additionally, they asked for a re-vote for the 2024 Presidential Election involving only Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud.
Today, Thursday, the Constitutional Court held a hearing with the agenda of presenting the respondents’ answers, statements from relevant parties, and testimonies for the PHPU cases of the Presidential Election.
There are two cases filed. The first case is a petition filed by the candidate pair number one, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, with registration number 1/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024.
Meanwhile, the second case is a petition filed by the candidate pair number three, Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud Md, with registration number 2/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024.
