The arrests were made during coordinated raids across multiple locations, including Greater Manchester, London, and the southern town of Swindon, on Saturday (May 3, 2025). Police confirmed that the men were detained on suspicion of planning an act of terrorism under the UK’s Terrorism Act.

However, authorities have not yet disclosed the specific location or nature of the suspected attack.

“This is a fast-moving investigation and we are working closely with those at the affected site to keep them updated,” said Commander Murphy.

“The investigation is still in its early stages and we are exploring various lines of enquiry to establish any potential motivation as well as to identify whether there may be any further risk to the public linked to this matter,” added Murphy.

Public Urged to Stay Vigilant

Commander Murphy emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages and urged the public to stay alert:

“We understand the public may be concerned and as always, I would ask them to remain vigilant and if they see or hear anything that concerns them, then to contact us.”

All five individuals remain in police custody as investigations continue.
