Jakarta (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — In the midst of post-election dynamics, the prospective Vice President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, has revealed insights into the upcoming cabinet formation under the Prabowo Subianto administration. Speaking after attending a gathering and breaking the fast in Kuningan, Jakarta, on Monday (25/03/2024), Gibran emphasized that it will be Prabowo Subianto who will have the final say in determining the composition of the government cabinet, with President Joko Widodo providing input.
“Pak Prabowo will be the one to determine it. Perhaps (President Jokowi will provide) input, but the decision rests with Pak Prabowo,” Gibran stated.
While acknowledging Prabowo’s pivotal role in shaping the cabinet, Gibran asserted his involvement in the discussions to formulate the future government. He mentioned that these deliberations have already commenced, indicating an active engagement in the transitional phase. “Certainly (I will be involved). It’s been ongoing since before. It has been discussed for a while,” he added.
However, Gibran refrained from divulging the extent of these discussions regarding the cabinet composition. He expressed openness to the possibility of including political parties from rival camps in the forthcoming cabinet. “It’s possible (for rival parties to join),” he briefly remarked.
The recent developments follow the official announcement by the General Elections Commission (KPU) of Indonesia on Wednesday (20/3), declaring Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the winning pair in the 2024 Presidential Election, securing a total of 96,214,691 votes. Meanwhile, the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar ticket garnered 40,971,906 votes, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md received 27,040,878 votes.
The KPU’s decision is documented in Decision Number 360 of 2024 concerning the Determination of the Results of the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections, Members of the House of Representatives, Regional Representatives Council, Provincial Regional Representatives Council, and District/City Regional Representatives Councils Nationally in the 2024 General Election.
On the other front, the losing rival camp of Prabowo-Gibran has filed a lawsuit disputing the election results with the Constitutional Court (MK).
The petitions submitted by the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar duo are registered under case number 1/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024, while the petitions from Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md are registered under case number 2/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024.
These developments mark a significant phase in Indonesia’s political landscape as the nation anticipates the formation of the new government under the leadership of Prabowo Subianto, with Gibran Rakabuming Raka poised to play a pivotal role in the administration.
