Tanjungpinang, Kepri (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — In a significant development for the Provincial DPRD (Regional People’s Representative Council) of the Riau Islands (Kepri), Mr. Ilyas Sabli, a member of the council, officially stepped down due to a corruption case. Harry Yanto has been appointed to fill the remainder of the term from 2019 to 2024.
The replacement of the council member took place during a plenary session with the agenda of inaugurating the replacement member (PAW) at the Wan Seri Beni Hall, Dompak Island, Tanjungpinang, on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
“The dismissal and interim replacement of DPRD membership are common occurrences. The process and mechanisms are regulated by the laws and regulations,” stated Raden Hari Thahyono, Vice Chairman I of the Kepri DPRD, who presided over the plenary session.
Raden mentioned that the dismissal of DPRD member Ilyas Sabli was proposed by the NasDem Party, as he was convicted in a corruption case involving housing allowances for the Natuna District DPRD from 2011 to 2025.
The NasDem Regional Executive Board (DPW) of Kepri then appointed Harry Yanto as the replacement member of the DPRD to serve the remainder of the term from 2019 to 2024.
Subsequently, Raden officiated the inauguration and oath-taking ceremony for Harry Yanto as the new member of the Kepri DPRD.
“Today, Mr. Harry Yanto has been officially sworn in and entrusted with the responsibility of being a member of the Kepri DPRD,” Raden announced.
Raden urged the newly inaugurated DPRD member to carry out their duties with integrity and a sense of responsibility. Additionally, they were encouraged to advocate for the welfare of the represented community in the interest of the nation and state, particularly in Kepri.
“In carrying out your duties, it is essential to adhere firmly to the Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution,” Raden emphasized.
The plenary session for the inauguration of the replacement DPRD member was attended by the Regional Secretary of the Kepri Provincial Government, Adi Prihantara, heads of departments, and several Regional Leadership Communication Forums (FKPD).
