FLORENCE, ITALY (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) – Real Betis captain, Isco, rejoiced after helping to pass his team to the Conference League final, after in the semifinal second leg, the host of Fiorentina at Artemio Franchi Stadium, Florence, with a score of 2-2, early Friday morning WIB.
With that result, Betis pocketed the 4-3 aggregate advantage and would challenge Chelsea in the final match on May 29.
“It was a very difficult match, especially because I felt we did not maximize all the opportunities we created,” Isco was quoted as saying on the official UEFA website on Friday.
“We have difficulty against great opponents, and in extension of time, we managed to score goals that took us to the final, so I could only feel happy,” he continued.
In the match at Fiorentina’s headquarters, the calf won first thanks to Antony’s goal in the 30th minute. Fiorentina then equalized and turned ahead through Robin Gosens’ goals in the 34th and 42nd minutes.
Until the end of normal time, the position 2-1 for Fiorentina’s superiority survived and locked the aggregate score locked in 3-3. The match then continued with an extra time, and Abde Ezzalzouli became a calf hero thanks to his goal in the 97th minute.
Although they successfully advanced to the Conference League final, Isco stressed that the focus of his team now is to maintain performance in the Spanish League.
“We haven’t started thinking about the final against Chelsea. We have just passed a series of difficult matches, and now is the time to celebrate this victory and take a break,” explained Isco.
“On Sunday (11/5), we have a league match (Spain against Osasuna) which is very important for the Champions League qualifications next season, and only after that we will start thinking about Chelsea,” said the former Real Madrid player.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina’s winger, Gosens, was disappointed even though he contributed two goals to his team.
“Not every day you can score two goals in the semifinals, and even so, I am here feeling sad because I know it’s not enough,” Gosens said.
“I hope this can be a motivation for us to perform well in the rest of the league match (Italy), because that is the only way we return to Europe. We must find positive energy,” said the German player.
