Jakarta (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) hopes that Eid al-Fitr 1 Shawwal 1445 Hijri will be a moment for people to forgive each other and strengthen family ties to weave back the brotherhood and unity as a peaceful nation.
The hope was expressed by President Jokowi during his virtual Eid al-Fitr 1445 H greetings broadcasted through the Presidential Secretariat’s online network in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, evening.
“On this blessed day, may we forgive each other and strengthen family ties to weave back the brotherhood and unity as a peaceful nation, united in building Indonesia,” he said.
The approximately 1.23-minute video featured President Jokowi accompanied by the First Lady, Iriana Joko Widodo, both dressed in coordinated white shirts against the backdrop of the Jakarta Presidential Palace Complex.
“The First Lady and I wish you a happy Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri, please forgive us both physically and emotionally,” he said.
During the occasion, the President expressed his hope for the safe and smooth journey of those traveling for the Eid celebration.
“For those of you who are or will be traveling, I wish you a safe and joyous reunion with your relatives and extended family. I hope for a smooth and safe journey,” he said.
Concluding his statement, the Head of State prayed for Indonesia to be blessed and protected by Allah SWT.
“May Allah SWT bestow His blessings upon us all and always guide and protect us,” he said.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has determined that 1 Shawwal 1445 Hijri or Eid al-Fitr this year falls on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, through the isbat session held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs office in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
“Based on the calculation of the hilal position in the Indonesian region which meets the MABIMS criteria, and the sighting reports of the hilal, it is agreed that 1 Shawwal in the year 1445 Hijri falls on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, AD,” said Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas during the press conference announcing the isbat session.
