Melbourne (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) shared a moment with a Koala, an iconic Australian marsupial, during a luncheon at the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit.
The luncheon took place at the Government House Victoria, Melbourne, Australia, on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat’s Press, Media, and Information Bureau, President Jokowi was welcomed by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Governor Victoria Margaret Gardner AC upon his arrival at the event venue.
During the occasion, President Jokowi interacted with a Koala, a distinctive marsupial native to Australia.
At the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit, President Jokowi emphasized the importance of cooperation between ASEAN and Australia, marking the 50th anniversary of their partnership this year.
Addressing the plenary session of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Melbourne on Wednesday, Jokowi mentioned that ASEAN and Australia share a joint responsibility in maintaining stability, peace, and prosperity in the region.
“As the oldest dialogue partner, comprehensive strategic partner, and gateway to the Pacific Region, ASEAN and Australia share the region where stability, peace, and prosperity are our common goals and responsibilities,” said Jokowi.
President Jokowi predicted that ASEAN would emerge as a global economic force, ranking fourth in the world by 2040.
With a population of over 650 million people, mostly comprising young workforce with high technological literacy, Jokowi stressed the importance of Australia’s support in maximizing this potential.
