1. Yong Moo Do

Yong Moo Do’s martial arts was first introduced on October 15, 1995, by The Martial Research Institute from Yong In University in Korea. This is a combination of techniques from Judo, Taekwondo, Aikido, Ssirum, and Hon Sin Sul.

The name Yong Moo Do himself comes from the word “Yong” which means dragon, a symbol of luck, “Moo” Which describes physical and mental battles, and “Do” which means a way of life based on natural philosophy.

Since 2008, Yong Moo Do has become a martial art that must be taught to the Army and is often shown in the commemoration of the TNI Anniversary.

2. Pigeons White

Merpati Putih, or MP, is a native Indonesian martial arts martial art that teaches battle techniques without weapons. Starting around the 1550s, this self-defense is part of Indonesian culture and also a member of the entire Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI).

Initially, Merpati Putih was only taught from generation to generation to the royal family, but has now been studied by various groups, including elite troops such as marines, Kopaska, Paskhas, and Brimob.

This martial art relies on the strength of the body obtained through breathing techniques, allowing users to have physical abilities above average.

3. Kung Fu

Kung Fu, which came from China, was originally taught to the monks at the Shaolin temple. Now, this martial art has spread widely and is studied by TNI troops, especially Kopassus.

Kung Fu teaches perseverance and mastery of techniques for a long time. The TNI elite forces were trained by a Kung Fu warrior named Efendi, known for his extraordinary ability in Kung Fu.

One of his best performances was when the Kopassus troops showed their Kung Fu ability in front of the German Army Commander, which impressed them with the expertise displayed.

4. Tarung Derajat

Tarung Derajat, known as Boxing Typical Indonesia, was created by Ahmad Drajat, or better known as AA Boxer, from Bandung in 1972.

These martial arts were born from Ahmad Drajat’s personal experience while fighting on the streets. Initially, his followers consisted of male laborers, such as market traders, kenek, drivers, parking attendants, and security officers. Tarung Derajat training is very focused on direct practice in the field.

His physical exercise is fairly intensive, from holding back the blow to breaking the brick with the head. At present, Tarung Derajat has been adopted by the military and police and has even become an official martial art for the National Police.

5. Karate

These martial arts is widely used because they contain a philosophy of life that is in harmony with values ​​in the unity of the TNI. Karate is considered able to increase physical and mental strength, which also reflects the values ​​contained in its teachings.

Some values ​​in karate include honesty (GI), courage (Yuu), politeness (Rei), positive attitude (Seishin), and high spirit (Seiki). In the TNI record, there was a Kopassus member who was famous as a silat teacher, Haji Umar, who often competed against karate experts from Japan.
