JAKARTA, INDONESIA, BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE – The Ministry of Religious Affairs has reminded Indonesian hajj pilgrims (JCH) who will leave for the Holy Land to carry luggage or suitcases of no more than 32 kilograms per person.
“We would like to remind that each pilgrim may carry a maximum of 32 kilograms of checked baggage and a maximum of 7 kilograms of cabin baggage,” said Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Public Relations and Communication Bureau, Akhmad Fauzin, in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Fauzin said that every piece of luggage must also be considered, because there are items that cannot be brought into the plane, such as sharp objects (scissors, knives, cutting tools), liquids of more than 100 ml, and pungent-smelling food.
“In addition, it is also not allowed to carry aerosol sprays and gas lighters, as well as flammable objects and high-capacity power banks without permission,” said Fauzin.
According to him, officers will check all luggage before boarding the plane. He also asked for cooperation from all hajj candidates so that the departure process runs smoothly and comfortably.
On Monday (5/5), Saudi Immigration had to unpack four hajj candidates’ suitcases. Two of them were caught carrying large quantities of cigarettes.
“These cigarettes were confiscated by the Saudi Arabian authorities, because the number is limited,” said Head of the Airport Working Area Abdul Basir.
Basir appealed to Indonesian pilgrims who have not yet departed to comply with flight rules in carrying luggage.
“Especially the limit on the number of cigarettes. The rules at Madinah Airport are very strict; if you want to bring cigarettes, only bring 200 cigarettes or 2 sticks. Because the fines that await can be many times the cigarettes brought,” said Basir.
