Jakarta (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — The Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of Indonesia, Bambang Soesatyo, announced that the MPR leadership will conduct the interim replacement inauguration for the remaining term of 2019-2024 from the PPP Faction, previously held by Arsul Sani. The event will take place at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI Complex in Jakarta on Friday, (08/03/2024).
“The Vice Chairman of MPR from the PPP Faction, Arsul Sani, has taken on a new role as a constitutional judge, appointed by the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, on January 18, 2024. We extend our prayers for Arsul Sani’s health, strength, and success in fulfilling his new duties and responsibilities,” stated Bamsoet, his affectionate nickname, in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, (07/03/2024).
He conveyed this information after a leadership meeting attended by MPR Vice Chairmen Ahmad Basarah, Hidayat Nur Wahid, Sjarifuddin Hasan, Jazilul Fawaid, Fadel Muhammad, and Lestari Moerdijat in a virtual setting.
Bamsoet mentioned receiving three letters related to the MPR leadership change from the PPP Faction. First, a Resignation Letter from Arsul Sani dated December 4, 2023. Second, a Recommendation Letter from the PPP Central Executive Board Number: 2382/EX/DPP/XII/2023 dated December 22, 2023, regarding the Request for Replacement of MPR RI Leadership. Third, a Recommendation Letter from the PPP Faction, Number: 01/FPPP/MPR/RI/I/2024, dated January 15, 2024, concerning the Naming of the Vice Chairman of MPR RI from the PPP Faction.
Based on these letters, he stated that Amir Uskara will replace Arsul Sani as the Vice Chairman of MPR from the PPP Faction for the remaining term of 2019-2024.
“We hope Arsul Sani can be present in person to conduct the handover ceremony (Sertijab) from the outgoing Vice Chairman to the new one because, so far, interim replacements have not been accompanied by a formal handover ceremony,” he added.
He also mentioned that the MPR leadership meeting discussed four MPR sessions in 2024. Firstly, the Annual Session of the MPR in 2024 on August 16, 2024. Secondly, the End of the Term Session of MPR RI for the 2019-2024 period on September 27, 2024. Thirdly, the Start of the Term Session of MPR RI for the 2024-2029 period on October 1, 2024. Fourthly, the Inauguration Session of the President and Vice President for the 2024-2029 period on October 20, 2024.
Following coordination between the Secretariat General of MPR RI and the Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia, Bamsoet stated that these four sessions will still be held at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI Complex in Jakarta.
Towards the end of the term, Bamsoet mentioned that the MPR leadership will finalize plans to reintroduce the State Policy Guidelines (PPHN) to ensure the continuity of national development. This includes preparing the Draft Law of MPR RI, separated from Law Number 17 of 2014 concerning MPR, DPR, DPRD, and DPD (MD3 Law).
“The separation of the Law of MPR RI from the MD3 Law aligns with constitutional mandates, emphasizing that further provisions regarding each representative institution are regulated by law,” said Bamsoet.
