JAKARTA, BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE —Police arrested two men with the initials A (39) and U (43) who were recidivists of motorcycle theft in the Angke area, Tambora, West Jakarta, on Tuesday.
“Both are recidivists of the same case (motorcycle theft),” said Kanit Reskrim Tambora Police Iptu Sudrajat to the press at the Tambora Police Headquarters, Tuesday night.
Sudrajat said the theft incident that occurred on April 17 was recorded by CCTV at the scene.
“Based on CCTV footage, we pocketed the identity of the perpetrators and then developed,” he said.
The arrest was made when police officers carried out regional patrols and found two men who were following the characteristics of the perpetrators.
“When we searched, it was true that members found evidence in the form of one key letter T along with five key children. Based on the results of the development, we succeeded in securing three motorcycle units,” said Sudarajat.
Furthermore, said Sudarajat, no sharp weapons were found on the perpetrators when secured.
“No sharp weapons were found and no fight was from the perpetrators,” he said.
For their actions, both of them were suspected of Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with the threat of a five-year imprisonment.
“We urge the public to always be vigilant. If possible, try motorbikes given a double key and parked in a safe place,” said Sudrajat.
