Jakarta (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — Political analyst Cecep Hidayat from the University of Indonesia has openly suggested the possibility of the NasDem Party aligning with the camp of the elected presidential candidate and vice-presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who emerged victorious in the 2024 Presidential Election.
“This option is always on the table. Why? Because today’s events are not isolated incidents but part of a series of political events,” Cecep said, quoting from ANTARA in Jakarta, Friday (22/03/2024).
Cecep elaborated on the political events, citing the meeting between NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh and President Joko Widodo for dinner on Sunday, February 18, 2024, and NasDem’s congratulations to the Prabowo-Gibran pair on Wednesday (20/03/2024).
“Then now, just two days after the announcement of the 2024 Election results. It’s quite fast, isn’t it? Two days after being declared by the Election Commission (KPU), Prabowo immediately approached,” he said.
He then mentioned Prabowo’s visit to the NasDem Party Headquarters in Jakarta on Friday, stating that it was not an ordinary event.
“Imagine, the president-elect reaching out to NasDem, instead of NasDem approaching Prabowo. It could imply respect as well. What if NasDem’s votes in the legislative elections put them in the top five? That would certainly strengthen the coalition of supporting parties,” he added.
Previously, presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto stated that he visited the NasDem Party Headquarters to meet Surya Paloh and honor the congratulations from the NasDem Party Chairman.
He mentioned that Surya Paloh immediately congratulated him and his running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka after the KPU declared the Prabowo-Gibran pair as winners of the 2024 Presidential Election.
“NasDem Chairman Mr. Surya Paloh immediately congratulated us, and to honor that congratulation, I came and was received today at the NasDem Party headquarters,” said Prabowo during a press conference after meeting Surya Paloh at NasDem Tower, Jakarta, Friday (22/03/2024).
Meanwhile, the NasDem Party does not rule out the possibility of joining forces with the Prabowo-Gibran camp after receiving a visit from the Chairman of the Gerindra Party.
“We will observe the developments ahead,” said Surya Paloh to the media after seeing off Prabowo from his office building.
The Indonesian Election Commission (KPU) declared the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as the elected candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election.
This decision is outlined in KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 concerning the Determination of the results of the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections, Members of the People’s Representative Council, Regional Representative Council, Provincial People’s Representative Council, and Regency/City People’s Representative Councils Nationally in the 2024 General Elections.
“The results of the national general elections as referred to in Dictums One through Five were determined on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 10:19 p.m. Western Indonesia Time,” said KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy’ari at the KPU RI Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (20/03/2024) evening.
Hasyim revealed that the Prabowo-Gibran pair garnered 96,214,691 votes. Meanwhile, he stated, the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair received 40,971,906 votes, and the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md pair received 27,040,878 votes.
The total valid votes, according to him, amounted to 164,227,475 votes.
