JAKARTA, BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from the Japanese Prime Minister’s special envoy, who is also a former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and a delegation at his residence in Kertanegara, Jakarta, Sunday (4/5).
As the press statement received, Sunday (4/5), Kishida and his entourage arrived at the residence of President Prabowo around 19:00 WIB. During the meeting, Kishida delivered a letter from Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to President Prabowo.
“Yes, of course the former PM Kishida delivered a letter from Prime Minister Ishiba which was delivered directly to the President and of course one of its contents was related to him ‘Special Envoy’ Prime Minister specifically for AZEC (Asia Zero Emission Community) projects,” said Coordinating Minister for the Airlangga Economy Hartarto in his statement after the meeting.
In addition to delivering an official message from the Japanese government, both parties also discussed the development of cooperation projects within the AZEC framework.
According to Airlangga, currently Indonesia has more than 170 memoranda of understanding (MoU) with Japan.
“And tomorrow there will be a signing of ‘financial closing’ to the project in Muara Laboh, West Sumatra, where the project is 80 MW Geothermal with an investment of around 500 million US dollars,” Airlangga said.
President Prabowo also expressed his appreciation for the close cooperation between Indonesia and Japan. The head of state also hopes that this collaboration can continue to be strengthened amid the challenges of global uncertainty.
“Mr. President appreciated Indonesia’s cooperation with Japan and hoped that this could continue to be improved in the midst of uncertainty due to the tariff war,” he said.
Similarly, Kishida also stressed the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries in the midst of uncertain global situations. “Kishida also said how this situation became uncertain, and in this situation, the cooperation of the two countries became very important,” said Airlangga.
After the meeting in the office, the agenda continued with a dinner together. Besides Airlangga, also attending the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Investment and downstream/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, and Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto.
Also present were the Secretary of the Cabinet Teddy Indra Wijaya, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Angga Raka Prabowo, and PT Pertamina (Persero) President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri.
