Jakarta (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida directly called presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto to congratulate him on his victory in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). In a press release received in Jakarta on Friday (22/03/2024), Kishida conveyed his congratulations to Prabowo via a phone call at 14:30 WIB. The warm conversation lasted for about 10 minutes.
Aside from the phone call, Prabowo also received congratulations from Kishida in the form of a letter.
“Allow me to convey my heartfelt congratulations on your Excellency’s election in this presidential election,” Kishida wrote in his letter.
In the letter, Kishida emphasized the importance of Japan and Indonesia’s partnership, which has historical ties in various fields such as politics, economics, and culture.
Kishida expressed his hope for further harmonious and robust relations between Indonesia and Japan under Prabowo’s leadership.
Simultaneously, through his official X account, Prabowo expressed gratitude to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
“It is an honor for me to receive congratulations on the victory in the 2024 Elections from His Excellency Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida @kishida230,” Prabowo wrote on his X account.
Prior to this, several other state officials had already extended their congratulations to Prabowo, including from the United States.
United States Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken congratulated Prabowo Subianto on his victory in the 2024 Presidential Election.
“We extend sincere congratulations to Indonesia’s President-elect Prabowo Subianto on his victory,” Blinken said in a statement dated Wednesday (20/03/2024) on the official website of the US Department of State quoted by ANTARA on Thursday (21/03/2024).
Blinken noted the longstanding cooperation between Indonesia and the United States spanning 75 years, expressing hope for continued bilateral cooperation under Prabowo’s presidency.
“We look forward to partnering closely with President-elect Subianto and his government when they take office in October,” Blinken added.
The Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) officially declared the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair as the President and Vice President-elect for the 2024-2029 period following the 2024 Elections.
This announcement was made in KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 regarding the declaration of results of the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections, as well as the national legislative elections.
“The results of the national elections as referred to in Clauses One to Five were declared on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 22:18:19 WIB,” said KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy’ari at the KPU Building in Jakarta on Wednesday (20/03/2024) evening.
Hasyim revealed that the Prabowo-Gibran pair garnered 96,214,691 votes. Meanwhile, the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair obtained 40,971,906 votes, and the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md pair received 27,040,878 votes. The total valid votes amounted to 164,227,475 ballots.
