President Prabowo Inaugurates New Hajj and Umrah Terminal at Soekarno-Hatta Airport

TANGERANG, BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE – President Prabowo Subianto is set to officially inaugurate the newly built Special Terminal for Hajj and Umrah at Terminal 2F of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) on Sunday at 2:15 PM local time.

According to the Presidential Secretariat Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media Yusuf Permana, President Prabowo will also oversee the departure of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims and inspect the new terminal’s facilities.

“This inauguration reflects the government’s commitment to improving service quality for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims,” Yusuf said in a statement to journalists in Jakarta.

The new terminal is equipped with a dedicated Makkah Route immigration system. Pilgrims will undergo Saudi Arabian immigration clearance at Soekarno-Hatta Airport through 10 special counters. This allows them to bypass immigration queues upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, streamlining their journey to the holy land.

As of May 1, 2025, the Hajj and Umrah terminal has been designated as a sterile area, meaning only pilgrims and authorized personnel are permitted inside. “Pilgrims departing from the hajj dormitory have already been screened, including baggage X-ray and Indonesian immigration processing. So we ensure the terminal remains a sterile zone,” said Dwi Ananda Wicaksana, General Manager of InJourney Airports at Soetta.

The first batch of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims departed from Terminal 2F early Friday morning (May 2), with 393 pilgrims from Jakarta’s Pondok Gede embarkation heading to Medina, Saudi Arabia.

Head of the Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Adib, noted that the group included 171 men and 222 women. “The oldest pilgrim is 85 years old and the youngest is 18. There are 62 elderly participants in this group,” he stated during a briefing at the Hajj Dormitory in Pondok Gede.

All pilgrims completed a one-stop service process at the dormitory before departure. Services included health checks, distribution of living allowance (750 riyals), meal and room cards, Hajj identification bracelets, passports, and daily guidance booklets tailored for pilgrims from Jakarta Province.
