London, UK (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — In a heartfelt video message shared privately, Princess Kate Middleton has disclosed her ongoing battle with cancer and her journey through treatment.
This revelation comes after Kensington Palace announced on January 17th that Princess Kate underwent planned abdominal surgery the day before.
According to a report by People on Friday, March 22nd, it was initially thought that the issue was not cancer-related. However, post-operative tests revealed the presence of cancer in her body. The specific type of cancer has not been disclosed yet.
In the emotional video, Princess Kate expressed her gratitude to well-wishers for their incredible support during her recovery over the past few challenging months for her entire family.
“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at that time, my condition was believed not to be cancer,” she said.
“The surgery was successful. However, post-operative tests showed the presence of cancer. Therefore, my medical team advised me to undergo preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” Princess Kate clarified in her video.
A spokesperson for Kensington Palace reiterated that they would not share Princess Kate’s personal medical information, emphasizing her right to medical privacy, just like everyone else.
Upon receiving the cancer diagnosis, she described it as a significant shock to her small family, stating that she and Prince William have been taking every measure to ensure the healing process is kept private for the sake of their family.
Kate also feels the need to explain her condition to her three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, in a manner appropriate for their understanding, reassuring them that she is okay.
“As I’ve told them, I am okay and getting stronger every day by focusing on things that will aid my recovery in mind, body, and spirit,” Kate said.
She also expressed gratitude for having Prince William by her side as a source of immense comfort and certainty, as well as the support shown by the public.
The Princess of Wales hopes that the public understands her need, along with her family, for some time to themselves as she undergoes treatment.
She also hopes to return to her public duties soon, but she must focus on the care necessary for her full recovery.
A palace spokesperson stated that Princess Kate began her preventative chemotherapy program at the end of February.
Regarding her return to public duties, the spokesperson stated that the Princess will resume her official duties when deemed fit to do so by her medical team.
“She is in good spirits and focused on a full recovery,” the palace spokesperson revealed.
It’s known that Princess Kate spent 13 days at The London Clinic after her abdominal surgery before returning to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor to continue her recovery.
Her prolonged absence from public view has led to conspiracy theories and online rumors about her health and whereabouts, reaching a peak when a photo shared to mark Mother’s Day in the UK was withdrawn by agencies due to alleged manipulation.
Meanwhile, Prince William is expected to spend time with his family during the Easter holidays with their children off from school in early April before returning to royal engagements.
