Jakarta (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — SMPN 252 Jakarta held another Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) with the theme “Bhinek Tunggal Ika” or “Unity in Diversity” on Wednesday June 13, 2024. This was the third celebration held at the end of the 2023/2024 Learning Year. The theme “Unity in Diversity” was chosen to introduce students to Indonesia’s cultural diversity, strengthen the sense of unity and anti-bullying action among them.
The Principal of SMPN 252 Jakarta, Sri Hastati Fajar Asia, M.Pd., emphasized that “the school does not give the best category of all that is displayed by all students, but based on the Merdeka Curriculum (Kurmer) everything is the best. Because we implement differentiated learning, learning according to student needs. So it’s not the best performance or the best stand, but a sense of unity, mutual respect and appreciation for differences, so we appreciate everything.”
The Chief Executive of the P5 Celebration, Delia Paramitha, M.Pd., also revealed that this activity was designed to foster a sense of togetherness and appreciation for diversity among students.
In this project, students from 17 classes showcased the cultural diversity of 17 tribes in Indonesia. Although not all tribes could be represented, each class tried to showcase the customs, traditional clothing, and food of the region they represented.
“We showcase various tribes in Indonesia, introducing their customs, traditional clothing, and regional food. Thus, children can get to know the tribes in Indonesia,” he said.
Of course, all student performances received mixed responses from students and teachers. For the dance performances, the audience was very enthusiastic and cheered for the outstanding performances including Yamko Rambe Yamko Dance from Papua from Class 7-G, Kecak Dance from Bali from Class 7-F, as well as Manari Dance and Singing Mandau Song from Central Kalimantan from Class 7-C. The Malin Kundang operetta performance from Class 7-B also captured the enthusiasm of the students and teachers.
In addition, the favorite booths from the provinces of West Sulawesi and West Java for their decorations and performances of cultural elements attracted visitors.
Not only that, the students were excited by the appearance of the pairs of 17 Provincial Mascots. Starting from the style of greeting their partner, how to walk, to greeting the audience while walking.
Sri Hastati Fajar Asia expressed her hope, “By understanding the cultural diversity that exists in Indonesia, we teach children to respect each other, mutual tolerance. From here, the character of children, especially at SMPN 252, will be formed with the profile of Pancasila students. Because we have also just promoted the Anti Bullying Movement, so with this theme we expect mutual respect, mutual tolerance for all friends. So, here I hope there will be no bullying in the future.”
Deputy Chairperson of the SMPN 252 Jakarta Committee, Betty Maria, S.E., also gave her opinion, “This activity has a very positive impact, especially for the younger generation who are currently vulnerable to divisive divisions. With this activity, the younger generation is expected to appreciate the diversity that exists. They feel proud even though they are different, but this is what unites them. Hopefully this activity can continue to be carried out both in this school and in other schools. Become an example for other schools.”

Betty Maria also added, “The role of the Committee is to bridge the gap between the school and the parents. We strongly support school activities. This is also a dream activity for parents how our children are educated to be able to appreciate differences through the help of teachers at school. We really hope that children can be more united in appreciating the diversity that exists. I am frankly satisfied and feel proud of Mr. and Mrs. Teachers in a short time can unite the children to be compact in their appearance.”

One of the students, Tiur Anna Manurung from Class 8-H, commented, “To be able to see the similarities and differences of each tribe so that there is no bullying anymore.” Meanwhile, Titis Filia Lisnauli from Class 7-G also added, “I am proud to be able to wear traditional clothes, recognize the characteristics of the region, especially being the mascot of the Papuan Tribe. So that there is no more bullying between other tribes, not mocking other tribes, and not feeling that their tribe is superior.”

Fathir Piero Casto from Class 7-C said, “Today’s celebration is more festive, there are many characteristics, such as traditional clothes, food.” Meanwhile, Melvin Zein from 7-F said, “It’s better and more exciting because our class all participated. I agree and am proud because this shows that not only white people are cool, people with black skin and short skin also have advantages.”
This activity is also relevant to the change in Jakarta’s status from the Special Capital Region to the Jakarta Special Region (DKJ) based on Law No. 2 of 2024. The Principal explained that this change is a challenge for the school to support Jakarta as a Global City and National Economic Center.
“For that, it is a challenge for all of us. Let’s all realize the vision and mission of Jakarta, which is to become a Global City and National Economic Center. Therefore, P5 activities are expected to shape the character of students who respect each other and understand diversity, as well as instill anti-bullying values,” said Fajar Asia.
One of SMPN 252’s next P5 plans is to introduce entrepreneurship to students.
