Jakarta (BERITAPOLITIK.ONLINE) — In a recent telephone conversation, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to Prabowo Subianto on his victory in the 2024 Presidential Election, expressing hopes for his leadership to bring benefits not only to the people of Indonesia but also to the global Muslim community. The conversation, which took place on Monday, April 8, 2024, was shared on Prabowo’s personal Instagram account on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
“Congratulations on your achievement in the election,” Erdogan said to Prabowo.
“Thank you very much, Your Excellency,” Prabowo replied to Erdogan.
“During the holy month of Ramadan, I pray to Allah that you will bring benefits to the people of Indonesia and to the entire Islamic world,” Erdogan continued.
He reiterated the congratulations on behalf of himself and the Turkish people to Prabowo.
“Once again, I would like to congratulate you on behalf of my country and personally for your excellence in the presidential election,” Erdogan said.
During the conversation, Prabowo and Erdogan also exchanged apologies and extended Eid al-Fitr greetings, as Muslims around the world commemorate the holiday on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. They both prayed for continued prosperity and welfare for their respective nations.
“Eid Mubarak and may you always be in good health,” Erdogan said to Prabowo.
“Thank you very much, President Erdogan, it’s an honor. I also extend my greetings to you and your family, and the Turkish people, wishing you a joyful Eid and abundant blessings,” Prabowo said.
Following the conversation, Prabowo mentioned on his personal Instagram account that Turkey is a close friend of Indonesia. He expressed confidence that the friendship between Indonesia and Turkey will continue to be maintained and even strengthen in the future.
“We are also committed to continuing and strengthening the bilateral relations between our two countries,” Prabowo said.
The Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) officially declared Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the President-Vice President-elect duo in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Prabowo-Gibran secured 96,214,691 votes, while their rivals, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, garnered 40,971,906 votes, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md. received 27,040,878 votes. The total valid votes amounted to 164,227,475.
The President-elect and Vice President-elect duo, Prabowo-Gibran, are scheduled to be inaugurated as the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024–2029 term on October 20, 2024.
